Profile

Training, experience, current commitment …

I’ve been teaching for over 25 years, having started out as a young student myself. My passion for teaching grew along with my passion for performing.

I founded the Life-Sound studio in Frankfurt 9 years ago, and have recently expanded to include the LIGHTHOUSE in Wiesbaden. Online lessons have been offered for over 10 years.

* I am currently building my community of singers and speakers in the LIGHTHOUSE in Wiesbaden and ONLINE. Monthly, bi-weekly, weekly workshops and individual voice coaching are available.

Holistic side …

For 30 years I have been training and working with my mother in transformative group work (www.origin8.org). Topics are: meditation, conscious relationship, self-awareness and more. For the past 3 years I have been offering Transformational Meditation Arts in Germany (www.origin8.de)

The work on individual and vocal alignment helps people become more confident about their voice and presence.

Early influences …

I started out as a dancer at a young age; I studied ballet, jazz, ballroom, latin and african dance. In my academic years I studied literature and theatre. I’ve acted, directed, and written plays. Eventually, I was led to my music degree and completed my Masters in Opera Performance from the University of British Columbia. I now work with a lot of actors, dancers and singers of all genres: pop, rock, classical, Broadway, folk etc. and help people in large companies to use their voices more effectively in presentations.

My expertise …

lies in singing technique, theatre and performance practice, as well as psychology and spirituality. Many of my students start amateur and professional careers in opera, musical theatre, singing / songwriting and rock bands. (Look at Moritz as the little prince! Http://moritzbierbaum.com/)

I also work as a consultant and coach for advanced students who want to find more freedom in their abilities, physically, mentally and psychologically.

Mission statement …

People come to me to improve their technique, to find more freedom and more “fun” singing and / or to create the musical / vocal foundation required for a career, a choir or their living room.

Not only do I help my students learn the tools to sing, but discover them for themselves through their singing, building confidence and developing a better understanding of how to continue a healthy exploration of sound for themselves. It is important for students to build their own authority and creativity as an artist so as not to be dependent on a teacher. I hope to support this process for new singers and experienced singers who want to find more freedom in themselves and in their singing.

For those in the workplace, the way you use your voice affects how people receive you and what information you want to convey. Whether in presentations, meetings or in dealing with colleagues in the hallway, we can make your presence more effective, make information clearer and help you build successful relationships.

Career…

My singing career has included 15 years of professional opera singing, as well as numerous  performances in variety of genres including classical, opera, musical theatre and improvisation.

Prestigious awards: Regional Metropolitan Opera Finale, the Johann Strauss Foundation Scholarship, the Rozsa Bursary and the Canada Council Career Development Grants

Studies in Canada, USA, Germany, Austria and Italy.

I currently incorporate my voice and singing in creative concerts and sound experiences. I accept invitations to appearances and occasional concerts.

My teaching and mentoring life is rich and fulfilling.
